Martin Luther King JR. - Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence

Some say Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Greatest speech was "I have a dream". But as current issues face us now, as they have since the beginning of the Military Industrial Complex. I would say his speech about the Vietnam war, hence Iraq and the Middle East as a whole.

It amazes me that the Religious community sat back and let King George the 43rd, take us to war. The ones that scream the loudest about following the teaching of Jesus, are the first to forget what he preached about. Where was the churches, mainly the Evangelical churches when Bush was selling this tragedy upon the American People. They stood quite, but yet want to judge others on choices. Yet as we hear the drum beats getting louder on Iran and North Korea. The American People stand quite, will we allow Obama to take us to war. As King said so powerful - "A time comes when silence is betrayal."

Some excerpts of his speech, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on April 4, 1967:

"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death."

"What do they think as we test our latest weapons on them, just as the Germans tested out new medicine and new tortures in the concentration camps of Europe?"

"Their questions hit home, and I knew that I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today -- my own government. For the sake of those boys, for the sake of this government, for the sake of hundreds of thousands trembling under our violence, I cannot be silent."

I will try to post music and videos that I feel portray a essence of what a good soul should be. As this video plays towards the end, as images of the horrors that have occurred the past 8 years. I feel that over the last 8 years I have lost a little of my soul. The damage that was done to America, was damage done to all those who believe in right and wrong. The ones that care about people other than ones self. I do hope in due time Americas soul can mend, and in the process my own.
